Education

CREAR is developing two courses to be offered in the near future. These will be taught in Spanish and English. The targeted audiences are Peruvian students (performing thesis on topics of interest) and international students, initially from the University of Pittsburgh. Subsequently, the courses will be extended to other universities at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Short-courses (two-weeks)

  • CREAR-ED-SPA: Explorando la Amazonia Peruana, una experiencia de investigación e interacción humano-naturaleza (ONLY IN SPANISH).
  • CREAR-ED-ENG: Exploring the Peruvian rainforest, a living experience in research and human-nature interaction. This is an English language version of the above course. More details in 2012.
  • Second specialization (6 months). Manejo de Ecosistemas Amazónicos.

  • Past courses:

  • INGENIERIA DE RIOS, June 2011 (In Spanish): this course was taught by Dr. Jorge D. Abad to Peruvian Navy officers and participants from other institutions such as Senamhi and the National Port Authority. This two-week short course served as a pilot program consisting of theoretical classroom lectures augmented by a practical portion onboard Navy vessels performing measurements in various locations along the Amazon River.
